Long Run Sunday

Due to weather (snow and cold) the long run was moved to Sunday this week. The trail was snow covered but packed so it wasn’t too slippery. Nemo GS and I started at Wilson Bridge, up to Hills Market, down to the first mile marker after North Broadway and then back to Wilson Bridge. I’m going to estimate it was about 16 miles. My weekly total was a bit short due to the abundance of snow so I’m going to miss the low end of my target by 10 miles.

I am somewhat surprised but also encouraged that the pace is a little quicker than it was last fall on the “out” of the out and back. We seem to be running between 7:30 and 7:50 on the way out and then trying to negative spit the run. I’ve had decent luck but not today. GS dropped a 6:35 on mile 10. I hung with him for that mile but had to let him go after that. He is a beast. That will teach me to taunt him for running indoors on Saturday. Nemo caught back on to me and we stayed together until 14 when I let him go too. Maybe “let” isn’t the right word, I couldn’t hold the pace and was cramping a bit so I really had no choice. Nemo is running strong too. It could be a long spring if I get beat around like this every day.

MD chose wisely to take it easy since he is still recovering. I really think he should just stop training for a few weeks in order to fully heal and have a strong season. We’ll see if he reads my blog and listens too me.

On top of the low mileage week, I’ve got a head cold so next week isn’t looking so good right now either. In honor of February, I’m going to start cleaning up my diet in preparation for Tucson training camp coming up in early March. I’d really like to make it out there in the 150 lb range.

Stats
16 miles (2:04)
166 lbs
