Monday - Rest Day

I was whipped from the weekend. Looking back at the week, it was quite heavy in both running and cycling so I guess I deserved to be a little tired. I did however make my Masters group on Monday morning. Nothing too interesting, about 3000 with a mix of pulls, kicks, and working through a few different strokes. I'm still struggling with my butterfly although I can get through 50 with some fins. Mostly I was goofing with my flip-turn. Lots of water up the nose but I'm getting better at it. As GS says, the only reason not to do them is because they are hard. Well, I need to HTFU.

I took the rest of the day off. Multisport.com had the first interactive webcasts Monday night. I thought I’d share some of the knowledge I obtained. My chat name was IMUSA2009 (very original and clever).

IMUSA2009: Is it OK to drink wine while I watch this?
Coaches: Absolutely!

IMUSA2009: Considering the hills and weight would you run a disc or deep dish rims at Lake Placid?
Coaches: blah blah blah…disc if it is light and decent weather…blah blah blah

IMUSA2009: I just watched ‘Anaconda’ last week, is there still a giant snake in Mirror Lake?
Coaches: You are an idiot. The movie was ‘Lake Placid’ and it was a giant alligator.

A few other highlights from the chat… I think MD wanted to go by ‘sexylegs’ but opted for ‘skinnylegs’.

skinnylegs: so are there any other snakes in mirror lake?
Coaches: There are only a few trout in the water and you won’t see anything.

skinnylegs: what’s the best way to qualify for Kona?
Coaches: Go out fast and don’t slow down. Be consistent in your training.

I’m really looking forward to the next chat; I am going to start asking ridiculous questions!
