Maybe I can do weekly posts

Gotta have goals. I'm hoping that maybe with a lot of hard work, I can at least try to give my faithful readers a weekly/weakly post. I'm in taper phase for the Columbus Half Marathon on Sunday. I'm obsessing between running enough to stay sharp and resting enough to be fully recovered. For anyone who has gone through it, you know the restlessness. Considering I'm always cranky and restless, this week has been really entertaining.

Most of the year I like to spend my Saturdays and Sundays something like this:
5:30am - The first sweet sweet nectar that is Coffee touches my lips
8:00am - 1:00pm Run/Ride/Swim/Life Time Fitness
1:30pm - TBD Nap Time

During taper it goes like this:
5:30am - The first sweet sweet nectar that is Coffee touches my lips
8:00am - 9:30am Run
9:30am - um, uh, well...

So this is how I ended up on Saturday morning. I made the best of it by first killing time at Life Time fitness only to be stood up by J-Fo. If there were any bets about it, he was wearing and A&F T-shirt with the sleeves cut off and looking huge. After that, I went over to Sharon Woods to scout a new trail run I heard about. Lying under my nose for a number of years, there is a nice gravel/grass/dirt trail there that makes a nice 3 mile loop. It conveniently located about 10 minutes from my office too! So that took up some time on Saturday.

Sunday Morning....
5:30am - The first sweet sweet nectar that is Coffee touches my lips
8:00am - 9:30am Run
9:30am - doh!

...and that my friends is how I finally got to grout the stone on my fireplace. I ran out of other things to do. The old fireplace was torn out in January of 2008 so I am very proud to say that with a few more trim pieces my great room will be ready to be painted. Projected finish is fall of 2012. Tapering sucks.

By the way, this morning run was terrible. I just wasn't feeling it. I picked the workout time, distance, showed up late, and then quit about 2 miles in. GS and Nemo should have given me a tough time but they both let me slide.

Stats
10/6 Tuesday: 9 mile run (3 x (800m-600m-600m))
10/7 Wednesday: 8 mile run Highbanks (8:00 min/mile)
10/8 Thursday: 8 mile run (1 warm up/3 hard/.5 easy/3 hard/.5 cool down)
10/9 Friday: 2500 yard swim
10/10 Saturday:9 mile run (2 warm up/6 @ 6.40/1 cool down)
10/11 Sunday: 6 mile run (2 Loops at the new Sharon Woods trail run)
10/12 Monday: 5 mile run (Northmoor to Henderson 6:50 - 7:20 min/mile)
10/13 Tuesday: 4 mile run (Wilson Bridge to 161 but I bagged it at 2)
15x lbs...I'm done looking until after the race.

I have missed your blog. I like to read about your workouts and you are quite funny (when you want to be). The fireplace looks great! I have noticed a little more grumpiness this week, but typical of taper week. I should know this by now . . .Hopefully you have the race of you life this weekend!
