I'd like to wish one of my best pals Feebs good luck tomorrow at PF Chang's Marathon in AZ tomorrow morning. I ran with him a bit this fall and I think he's going to go somewhere between 3:15 and 3:22. I'd really love to see him have a great race. The guy has a BQ in him but he just has to find it.
This morning was another brutal cold one. When I started my morning routine of coffee and breakfast, the thermometer said -7. GS, Nemo, and I traded some text messages early and decided to hold off until we were in the positive. We ended up starting about an hour and a half later than normal and met at 9:30 am. The training plan called for 17-19 miles but we were running in about 3-5 inches of packed snow. Footing sucked and there was a lot of wasted effort on slipping and remaining somewhat upright so we cut it at about 13. Good choice.
I had a rough time on the back side of the out and back and crawled in the last 2 miles. Nemo and GS looked strong and had a good morning I think. Once again poor nutrition probably held me back a bit. I skipped lunch on Friday and skimped on dinner opting for 4 Blue Moon beers in the airport. Combine that with getting in late, I deserved the whooping. I'm not making excuses, I'm highlighting some bad choices. The only thing to do is make better choices next week.
Stats
12.5 miles (no timing)
162 lbs (my new battery is in)

Like I said this morning, if you are going to "celebrate" being in Boston, a few blue moons the night before long runs, might actually be a good choice!
