Running in the Snow

I got a good 8 miles in on the Highbanks wooded trail early this morning. We had a bit of snow yesterday and it has been snowing all day but the trail wasn't too bad. Running in the snow is really peaceful and quite. Maybe the snow mutes a lot of the other noise because the only thing I heard was it crunching under my feet. If you dress appropriately it is a very relaxing and tranquil experience.

It was about 10 degrees this morning when I started out. A few weeks ago I mentioned in a post what one should wear when running in such cold weather. My younger brother, living in the sunshine and warmth of Phoenix Arizona responded, “I don’t think I own that much clothing”. Most would agree he is the smartest child in the family.

The rest of the week could get tough to get running in. It has been snowing all day so tomorrow’s 10-mile tempo run may have to be on the treadmill. I’ll have to break that up into 2 sessions. It also looks like I’ll be traveling for work on Friday so I likely will be in an airport and airplane all morning and evening. We’ll see if I can get creative.

Stats
8 miles (no timing)
16x lbs – the battery on my scale is dead.
