Thursday started promising. I was up about 5:00 and on the bike trainer for light 90 minutes then off to the pool. I got about 2700 in a mix of 100s and 200s. With some warmer weather in the area, I was going to run 8 in the afternoon and then back on the spinner to top things off. And then….
About 9:00 I felt a little tickle in my throat, by 11:00 I had a full on sore throat, and by 2:00 I was on some cold medicine. This is quite strange. I’m not invincible but I usually only succumb to 2-3 colds per year. One is usually a post marathon early November cold. I usually get something in early January from visiting so many germ-ridden homes of family and friends (and children) at Christmas. Occasionally, I’ll get a summer cold if I’m flying. Airplanes are sealed tubes of funk.
I’m rambling now but I’m afraid I might have my 2nd cold of the year and it’s only February. As I trace back over the last 4 days to identify the culprit of my infection, I’ve narrowed it to my office or the gym. I bagged the afternoon run and hit the spinner for another 60 minutes, drank some warm tea, 2 throat lozenges and try to sleep this off.
