Tucson Training Camp - Day 3

The pool "conveniently located" near the condo is closed until April 1st so the day started a little messed up. The closest outdoor pool was closed from 9:00 - 11:30. We did have time to get there before the planned ride so opted to ride first. As you can guess, that didn't happen. Maybe I'll swim in the morning.

Kitt's peak was a great ride, little head wind for 30 miles out to the base of the climb at 3000 feet. The climb was rough. I struggled the first 6 miles but my legs responded for the last 6 up to 7000 feet. The climb took about 2 hours. The descent was cold and windy so so we couldn't fly down but it was about 28 minutes down. We had a wicked fast tail wind for the ride back to the car. 4:52 for the ride but it was 3:20 out, 1:32 back.

I ate 4 GUs and a bag of Cliff Blocks and drank about 400 calories of Infinite. I'm guessing I took in about 800 calories during the ride. Dinner was green beans, egg whites, and sweet potato. I need to go to the grocery and get some good food. I'm craving pancakes but that may wait until Wednesday morning when the rest of the boys get to town.

MD is good to travel with but I'm willing to bet his wife spends half her day picking up after him. I'm a bit of a neat freak and MD leaves shit lay everywhere. Every time he and I go away, I gain a newfound respect for his wife.

Here are a few pics from today’s ride.

Start of the ride

Team Kenda

Team Festina

Tomorrow's plan is to swim, run and then bike (hopefully).

Stats
