Tucson Training Camp - Day 4

What a day. We made it to the pool today about 7:45am. I 2800 yards which is good considering no drafting and I had no ambition. I always like swimming more when it is with my masters group or others to pass the time. I wrote a workout up on the way to the pool to make sure I had a plan. MD was looking quick and only stretched out on the deck for 16 minutes before finally jumping in. He jumped in the lane with the only swimmer that looked safe to swim with. I had to wait for a while to get a lane since the people in the lanes were not swimming straight enough to trust sharing. In the end, I split the lane with MD which always hurts my swim confidence.

MD and I have been using Map My Run and Map My Ride to find some good workouts here in Tucson. I love some things about the internet and this is just a great tool. If you have a good route, you can post it and others can find routes. This is great for the traveling person. This run is tough. It is rolling a little like Highbanks wooded trail but it is hot, with asphalt and no shade. Here is the elevation chart:

Imagine a scene from Looney Toons Roadrunner Cartoons. Oh heck, no need to imagine, it looks like this:

After all this, MD and I rode for about 1:30 to top off a good day. Oddly, I haven’t had a nap yet this entire trip including the weekend. I need to work that in here soon.

Stats
2800 yard swim (55:00)
8 mile run (1:05)
23 mile ride (1:28)

Looks like you guys had an easy day on the bike considering you only road 23 minles and you did in an hour and 28 minutes, why can't you guys ride that kind of easy pace when we're riding together? .....unless of course this is your time up Mt. Lemmon! BTW, when are you attempting you ascent to the top of Mt. Lemmon?
