I rolled out of bed at 7:00, couple cups of coffee and then out for a 20 minute run. My hotel is right on the run course as you come back in to town. Hopefully, I won't just stop there on the second loop Sunday. It will be tempting.
After the run, I ate a light breakfast of oatmeal and yogurt in my room and then walked about a mile to Mirror Lake. The water was great. It is so clean and clear.
Swim Course

For those that have never done the swim here, there is a cable about 6 feet under water that lines the whole course. If you stay near it you never have to look up to sight. The first picture shows and underwater marker attached to the cable. If you look closely at the 2nd picture, you can see the cable.
Under Water Cable

I got through registration and athletes village quickly. All of this before 10:30. The athletes village is a little sparse this year. With the economy the way it is, I don't think the tri companies are traveling as much as they did a few years ago. I did stop and try out some Newtons. Oddly, I need a size 9.5 and they told me they are coming out with an "all weather" shoe which I may try out this winter. Funny enough, I stopped to chat up the the Ceepo bike guy and he was telling me that he was just talking to Tri-Tech the other day trying to get Christ to pick up that bike line. Ceepo is the official bike sponsor for Ironman this year. They are based in Scottsdale, AZ so I took his card to hook him up with Feebs and Dr. DB. I'm hoping maybe they can coordinate on some activity for Pinnacle Peak Events. Goody bag is disappointing for a return Ironman. Just what I need, another one of these.

I was back to my hotel room by noon and took a little 20 minute spin on my bike to make sure it was in good shape. I may go out for a little more tomorrow. I'll probably drive part of the course with the climb back in to town past White Face mountain too. Just for the fun of it, here is new Felt ready to race.

Tomorrow, I'll drop a few more pictures and reveal my race plan and prediction.
