Oh the dreaded Taper

I, like most distance athletes, don't like to taper. I was just telling MD that I feel like a kid that can't come out to play. My Ironman Wisconsin pals are going like 5 hours on the bike this weekend and have a 3 hour run. I have the fitness to go along but I need to rest. For instance, tomorrow morning, instead of the 8-mile morning run, I'll sleep in and have a leisurely breakfast. I'll ride easy tomorrow afternoon and do a little transition run

What to do? I am working on my Facebook skills and maybe I'll finally work on my fireplace. Who am I kidding? I'll check Lake Placid weather every 10 minutes. Right now it is looking good for me. I like cooler weather and the high as of the Wednesday before the race is 73 and rainy. Sounds like good race day weather for me. I'll take that over 90 and sunny.

This week I'll ride a bit and my coaches from Multisport.com, Roch and Frey, say that I can race the Antrim sprint triathlon this weekend. That gives me something to look forward to. This will be a chance to check out my new speed weapon. I'll post some pictures when I get it all put together.

Today was a morning swim and then working (goofing) most of the day. I also updated and commented on Facebook and searched a ton of bikes. I’m hot on the trail of a Cyclocross Bike or Mountain Bike. Right now, I’m hot on the Specialized mountain bike and maybe the Ridley Cyclocross bike. Hopefully, this feeling passes. Realistically, by fall, I’ll only care about running and talk about some ultra races.

Good timing. The taper is my friend. Now we'll get a chance to see you!
