So this blog is supposed to be about My Running Club (and more). That is easy to do when I am training bunches and I can entertain all of my reader (both of them) with hilarious tales of my training adventures and mis-adventures. Right now, I'm just not training too much. Obviously, after a big race, an athlete takes a bit of time off and I did. Getting restarted has proved to be a bit of a challenge. I'm just going through the motions and getting beat into the ground by the rest of the boys. With that in mind, I've decided to turn it over to my loyal readers to make the decision for me. At the right, you will see my new "What should I do next?" poll. Vote once if you'd like, vote twice if you are enthusiastic about guiding my activity. I'll do whatever you think is best or blow it off and make my own choice but either way, it is entertaining.
So to recap the week that wasn't (cue the chuckle track) ...I took a little swim on Monday and then rested. On Tuesday, I skipped the morning run but took some time in the afternoon to jump on my mountain bike. It was a great thrill to go bombing down some trails. Just as I was wondering why I didn't do it more often... I fell off a bridge and bruised up my leg. That is when I recalled the fact that I am somewhat reckless on the mountain bike and I usually end up with some scrapes. Regardless, I'm looking forward to getting more time on the heavy hard tail.
Wednesday morning was much like Tuesday. By that I mean, I skipped all workouts and slept in. Feeling guilty by lunch I bolted out of the office for 3 quick miles. All were sub-7:30 so I'm thinking to myself "I'm back and ready to race". And I was also thinking, "Man I hope no one has to sit next to me this afternoon, I am SWEATY".
Thursday morning I was hit with realty again when I met the guys at the track, ran an 8 minute warm-up, and then went back to bed and slept until 8:00. I will say that I stayed long enough to see MD trip over a hose that was laying across the track. That dude trips and falls more often than Chevy Chase playing Jerry Ford. For those that don't get the joke, you are young enough to be masters of You Tube so figure it out.
Thursday evening I once again showed some signs of life as GS and I went out for a 35 mile ride. All felt good. This morning was another good workout with quick pool splits. So, as you can see, I'm like the Karate Kid...just insert karate with training.
Miyagi: Walk on road, hm? Walk left side, safe. Walk right side, safe. Walk middle, sooner or later [makes squish gesture]
Miyagi: get squish just like grape. Here, karate, same thing. Either you karate do "yes" or karate do "no." You karate do "guess so," [makes squish gesture]
Miyagi: just like grape. Understand?
Daniel: Yeah, I understand.
Miyagi: Now, ready?
Daniel: Yeah, I'm ready.
I'm not really resting and I'm not really training for anything so basically, I'm doing nothing but wasting time. Which reminds me of another favorite quote...
"If time be of all things the most precious, wasting time must be the greatest prodigality." - Benjamin Franklin.
Now, I have no idea what prodigality means but I'm feeling you Ben.

Can I insert a vote? I think you should do the Donut Ride. I think you could win that one!
I would also like to "write-in" a vote. You have 53 weeks until 2010 Leadville 100 trail run. Get started now.
LOL... Chevy Chase reference... awesome.
You have to go sub 1:30 for the half. With all the training you have done, it will seem like you are giving your body a rest (which you need). Also, no matter what race you do...it is all about the run. This is only going to make your marathon, 1/2 IM, and IM faster.
Not to mention I have a faster 13.1than you.
