5:30am at Wilson Bridge. I've probably texted that 100 times this year. Nemo and I set out in the dark and both a little sluggish from Monday's trail adventure. The plan was 2 mile warm up with 1 mile effort, recover, 2 mile effort, recover, 1 mile effort. As we cruised through the 2nd mile of the warm up we were discussing just bagging the plan and running easy. We picked up the pace slightly as we started the first interval and as we approached the 1 mile mark we agreed that if we went sub 7 we'd do the rest of the workout. 6:54 (dang it). Ok 4 minutes easy then we are off. Next 2 miles went 6:26 6:26, good effort. 1 mile recovery in 8:33 and we were off again. 4th interval was 6:25, and I am whipped. 1 mile easy in 8:11 but we were still 2 more miles away from the parking lot.
Well...what do you say to one more hard mile then we'll cool down. Why not? 1 mile hard at 6:30 and 7:48 cool down mile. Good run, 5 miles at hard tempo, 5 miles at easy tempo. Glad we decided to work hard.
I'm heading out of town for the rest of the week so it should be pretty uneventful with the treadmill or running in strange office parks near my hotel. At least I'm staying at a Residence Inn so I can load up on scrambled eggs every morning.
Best wishes to my buddy MD as he heads to IMMoo. Sub 10 or death! He is in killer shape. 148 lbs of speed!
Stats
