I would love for this to be momentous post but it probably won't be. I'll give some highlights and a quick review for those that haven't been following. My enormous new Years Resolution will be at the end.
The MRC(am) team turned one year old this year. We are all hoping for a great 2010. Many of the followers of this blog had personal bests this year or had other major accomplishments. This will not be all encompassing so save your bitching or write me with a comment. With that, here are some of the athletic highlights:
MRC(am) Captain:
PR at the following distance - Ironman, Sprint Tri, Olympic Tri, Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K.
Dr. DB
PR at Steelhead Half Ironman
Professor Brinkman
PR at Flying Pig Marathon and Lima Triathlon
Nemo
PR at Marathon and Steelhead Half Ironman (and he survived the swim)
GS
He got his Boston Marathon Revenge and broke 3 hours on a tough course, PR at Steelhead Half Ironman, few strong finishes at the 5000 and Flying Fin 4 miler
Mrs. GS
She ran a race every month this year
MD
I think MD won his AG at 5 races including one where he got lost
The GF
She had a few good races but most important to her is finishing IMAZ
Feebs
PR at IMAZ
J-Fo
48 chin-ups and spent 4 months on crutches, his brother-in-law qualified for Boston
If I missed anyone, I apologize. Send me a note and I'll update the post.
I've tried to compile some numbers to summarize the year.
1618 miles running
2100 miles on the road bike (+/- 50)
1434 miles on the TT bike
367 GU/Power Gels/Cliff Shots/Hammer Gels/etc
848 Optygen Pills
8 tubular tires
$600 in airline bike transport fees (those bastards!)
7 pairs of running shoes
3 pairs that lasted exactly 1 run (stupid Saucony and Nikes)
2 pair of Rudy Project Sunglasses, one pair donated to the rental car cleaners in San Jose
1 new nephew
539 text messages reading "WB at 5:30"
538 text messages reading "be there in 5 mins"
4 orders of Infinit Orange
87.2 Power Bars. I tossed one after two bites at IMLP
1 stamp on my passport
1 trip to the Giro
43 bags of ice for ice baths
As you can see that was a pretty full year. 2010 has some great plans. As of now, we've got a strong showing at Boston with many friends, except Dr. DB who didn't register in time (those bastards!). Steelhead should have a great turn out again. Couple fellas going for "Last Chance for Boston" in February. The fall should have an MRC(am) showing at the New York Marathon and we've got the Mount Lemmon Marathon in October. Maybe a trip out to Tour of California, maybe a week in Colorado and some mountain biking in Moab. Who know, maybe we'll even get a little swimming in.
Oh yeah, my new Years Resolution is to listen to more AC/DC. I don't own any of their albums but I love hearing them at races and and sporting events. I'm going to stock up on some and rock.
