Tucson Training Camp day 2

What a day...we wake to rain and more rain. Our condo has a leaking roof and our rental car has a leaking front windshield. Isn't that wild?

MD and I decided to go find better weather. After bitching and moaning about the weather for a few hours, we rolled to the local Target and grabbed a detailed map of Arizona. Looking at the weather maps, we figured we could head 60 miles southwest and avoid some rain. So an hour later, we parked at a gas station about 25 miles north of Mexico and made that our training HQ. We started with an 8 mile run along a horse path. Go ahead, ask me how I know it was a horse path...yeah horse shit. Here's a couple shots from the day.

This is Kitt's Peak. Road was closed today but maybe later in the week.

We got back to transition, aka Shell Station on Route 86 between Tucson and Yuma, and jumped on the bikes. At this point we just looked at our map and tried to go towards Mexico. I am not kidding when I say that we saw 30 Border patrol vehicles. They were everywhere. Good thing MD and I are so pale; they never gave us a second look. We had a stiff wind and the temps were in the mid 50s. I'd like to thank everyone back east for letting me know that they had better weather than I did today. Really, thanks. That makes me feel good.

As we were rolling back into Tucson, the rain was still there and gave us this rainbow.

Weather forecast doesn't look good. Mount Lemon got 8 inches of snow today...summit isn't going to happen this week. As GS pointed out, at least that means Mario won't beat me this year. I'll get a better shot later this week but you can see in the background that there is a lot of snow there.

Stats
8 mile run (1:05)
40 mile ride (2:30)
