My reign as the fastest marathoner in the family is over. My little brother shattered my best by putting up a 3:10:48 this morning in Tucson. He qualified for the Boston Marathon by 12 seconds. I am very happy for him. I’m not going to lie though; I’d like to have that record back.
He took an entirely different training approach. He used lower mileage with higher tempo. His long run was 18 and he only did that once. My program had lots of 18+ mile days.
Got a massage today, my calf is still a little sore and I have some numbness in my foot. I think it is time to see the Doctor.

Congrats to Dan! The brothers Brinkman will unite in Boston!
I must admit that CT really motivated me and paved the path for quailfing for Boston. Just like an older brother should, you gave me advise and showed me how to do it...Thanks. I never do a race and think "I need to beat CT", I just do my best.
Just think, 8 years ago you and I ran our first marathon together in 4:37 & 4:39, respectively. This April we get to run the pinnacle of all marathons...Boston...thanks again.
