Dan the Man, Here is the Race Plan…

…Green Eggs and Ham Yosemite Sam
(Eggman – Beastie Boys' Paul's Boutique)

My brother, DB, is racing this Sunday at the Tucson Marathon. His goal is to run a 3:10:59 or faster and qualify for the Boston Marathon. So you don’t have to do the math, it is a 7:17 minute per mile pace. I have confidence that he has the speed and done the work. Now it is all about the execution.

Couple Things for Race Morning
Eat breakfast, have some coffee, clear the system
Grab Shoes, Hat, Glasses, Espresso Love Gu, gloves, socks, shorts
Don’t wait in the Port-O-John; piss in the parking lot
Have a non-caffeine Gu 10 minutes before the start
Go out easy the first mile

Some Inspiring Thoughts
Don’t stress Dan-O; it’s just another day
If things don’t go as planned, there are a few more chances
Relax, you did the work
It won’t hurt for the whole 3 hours, only 60 – 90 minutes will be uncomfortable. You can deal with anything for 90 minutes

Lastly, if you don’t make 3:10, I hope it is over 3:14 and I hold the Brinkman Marathon Record.

Apparently GS overslept and missed the Master Swim again this morning. It must be nice not to need the practice. I took notes for you.

300 Warm Up
4 x (75 on 1:40 + 150 on 3:00)
200 Kick
200 Pull
4 x 50 on :55 (with fins)
4 x 50 Drill
300 Cool Down

Total: 2300

I might hit the gym if I can get out of work early. I'm thinking back and shoulder training.

Stats:
Run – 0 (Sore Calf)
163 lbs

Thanks for the shout out and the words of encouragment. I will do my best. That is all I can ask for. The training is done, the taper is done, now it is just time to run. Regardless of my outcome, I will be in Boston in April, either watching you run or running with you. Peace.

It's so much easier to swim during lunch...I don't have to keep up with you now that you have been exiled to Lane2...
