First Interval Training for 2009 Season

Got through the first interval training I've done in months. It was tough and I really hate running them on the treadmill. The 800s were on 3:10 and that was a little quick for me. I had to adjust the recovery a bit because I wasn't able to recover in 90 seconds as the plan called for. My heart rate hit 172 and might even have gone higher but I had to check it by grasping the treadmill handle and wasn't wearing a monitor. It was probably good that I ran them on the treadmill, I would have slacked on the pace had it not been for the treadmill setting the pace. Fear of falling off a treadmill and looking like a jackass is a good motivator to keep going.

Actual workout:
1 mile warm-up
4 x 800m on 3:10 with 400m recovery on 2:30
800 walk
4 x 800m on 3:10 with 400m recovery on 2:30
1 mile cool-down

Plan to be back to the gym this afternoon for some strength training and maybe the evening spin class. We’ll have to see how I feel after work. Right now I am still whooped.
