Rest Day

No running today. I did a spin class at Lifetime early this morning but really just went through the motions. The peak heart rate was only about 122. I'll crank it up tomorrow with my first interval run since last fall. Here is what the plan calls for.

2 x (4 x 800m) @ 10K pace, 90 seconds recovery, 5 minutes recovery between sets.
I’ll try to run the 800s on 3:20.

I was hoping to get some company but MD says he is ill. On another note, I decided to run a New Years Day 5K. I think my last 5K was a St. Paddy's Day event in '03. I rocked it with a 23:10 at a 7:27 pace. I'm a little excited for it. The race plan and prediction will get published on New Year’s Eve.

I'm going to start watching my food a bit. It's time to clean up the diet. In my packed lunch today was 1 apple, 1 banana, 1 red pepper, 1 chicken breast. Off to a good start but that I'll have to overlook the bowl of caramel corn I had at the office. Baby steps...I am still addicted to sugar from Christmas.

Stats

Take it easy. Don't over do it on the first day of training. How is the calf? Intervals are good, but do not pull anything.
