Interval Day

After a few weeks off, I went back to doing intervals on the treadmill. Speed training is so valuable but it is often so hard to bring yourself to do those workouts. The morning started with a spinning class at 5:45. MD was meting me so I couldn’t ditch it. I didn’t work real hard through the class but I will say that Pink’s video Sober is inappropriate for those under the age of 18. That wasn’t even the highlight though. When was the last time you saw AC/DC’s Shook Me All Night Long video? I need a pair of these cycling shorts (about 2:40 into the video). Perfect for when you have to take a “nature break”.

With a quick change of clothes, it was on to the treadmill. I kept myself sane with an Endurance Nation podcast of one athlete’s planning and execution at IM USA last year. Good listen.

Here is the interval:

1 mile warm-up
potty break
5 x (800 on 3:10, 400 on 2:00)
1 mile cool-down

J-Fo met Mario and I for some strength training after the run but I really only had time for squats, dead lifts, and calf raises. I wanted to be in the office by 9:00. Surprisingly J-Fo only wanted to do pull-ups and curls (for the girls). I’ll try to get another 90 minutes on the trainer this evening to continue to get comfortable on the P3.

Injury Update: MRI on my knee today to see if there is anything causing a pinched nerve. I think it will be clean but it is just to be sure.

Stats
6 miles (interval)
60 minute spinning class in the morning
60 minute spinning on home trainer
163 lbs

Those "bike shorts" look just like CT's swim suit, much to the dismay of the other fitness swim members at the D-Rec.

Everytime you mention a treadmill workout, I can't help picturing you jamming to music on your headphones like Brad Pitt in "Burn After Reading". Check it out on You Tube.
