No post yesterday but I got back in the pool with my Master Group. It was a short and mostly just 50s on 1:05.
The planned track workout was 4 x 1 miles. I was too lazy to run to the track this morning. All the guys were there and after a mile and a half warm up they were off. 4 laps later, I’d run a 6:50. I felt slow and cold. At that point, I got in my truck and went home, showered, ate breakfast, went to the office, had a few calls, a meeting, and then I decided I should probably finish the remaining 3 miles from this morning. I finished on the running trail with a mile warm up, 3 x 1 with 2-minute recovery. So I guess I got about 7 miles in for the day it just took me most of the day to do it. It may just have been a mental block, the cold, or tired legs but I just didn’t have much speed or at least it felt slow.
GS and I opted out of the Canal ride and decided to ride with the gang from Tri-Tech. This group meets on Tuesday as well but it is an entirely different ride. It isn’t a hammer fest, the group rides together, they are polite, they don’t run signs, they wait when someone gets dropped, etc. You get the picture. It wasn’t too lazy either. We got 30 miles in 1:45 for an average of 17mph. Until the track workouts move to Thursday, this may be a better option for Tuesday. It is also so much closer than the hour drive to and from Canal. I like the quality and intensity of Tuesday in Canal but it is tough to pair that with the intensity at the track on the same day.
Stats
7 mile run (speed work)
30 mile ride (1:45)
157 lbs
