My readers have voted and the results are in. After a good week of recovery, I'm going to train for a the Columbus 1/2 Marathon. I'm glad the masses have spoke and somehow the 1/2 marathon eked out the "See if I can get back to college weight". Although I'm sure that would have been fun, the recovery from "college weight" would have been brutal.
So let's get down to business. I had a good week of running and I took my second to last ride of the season on my TT bike. Despite my love for the beautiful Felt, it will go into hibernation in the near future. I will ride one more time this weekend with MD as he gets ready for IMWI. The Airborne will get some fall and winter love though.
Friday I took a quick 6 miler at Highbanks to enjoy some cooler weather and the woods. Saturday I took a little spin with GS, Nemo, and MD on the TT bikes. It was a bit of a debacle. MD had work calls, if you can believe that, Nemo was in full taper mode and GS is trying to get over another injury. We rolled out to Johnstown and then back to the beach. I took a little transition run for no reason. MD sat on the phone in the side of a country road.
Sunday brought some cool weather and I was full of the fall marathon spirit. Nemo was racing and GS, well, see above. MD and I rolled high 7's and slowly brought it down. After a few tempo miles after the turn around he kicked hard. We had a few in the high to mid 6's and took the last 2 easy. It was rough but it felt great to know I had a 6:29 at mile 14. It gives me hope.
To make things official, I've recruited GS to help me put together a training plan and do the tempo runs when he is recovered, Nemo will be training with me to race, and MD agreed to cheer from the sidelines. Actually, MD wants to run the last 4 with Nemo and I. I'm traveling this week for work but I should be able to have a solid week. This weekend I'll go back at it hard taking a hard 13 miles with Nemo and MD. We'll see what happens.
Lastly, despite my weekend worries, Daredevil does not hate me. After repeated emails and calls, he called me back today to let me know he is not angry with me. Thanks Daredevil!
