Wooohooo so happy to be running!

My 3 week hiatus from running is over! After a few weeks of swimming and riding, I got back on my feet. I must admit, I didn't really ride. I sat on the trainer and went to a spinning class or two but I was just going through the motions. It is just too early to care about riding. MRC(am) goes on with out me.

As many of you know, I actually do have a job. That may surprise some of you but it is true. My most recent project is a combination of sweet and sour, much like the Asian delicacy. I'm am delivering a favorite. A "sexy" local company has locked me in town for the next few months (sweet) but I'm working for GS and Daredevil (sour). It may sound like a dream project because they know I take 2 hour lunches to work out. They also are understanding if I feel like a big breakfast in the morning and have a tough time making it in by 9:00 am. The down side is that they insist that I fetch morning coffee for them and treat me like a glorified waiter. Daredevil insists that my cubicle is the only place where any of his food waste goes. I get his left over trash every few hours. I'm sure you wonder how the amazing legs that Daredevil bring to every sprint sign are constructed. I've had the pleasure to see his diligence every day for the past couple weeks. Like many grand tour riders, Daredevil does not shy away from the protein and calories breakfast necessary to spend many hours in the saddle. I think he is eating a great breakfast for someone who needs 5.000 calories a day. Of course he is sitting at his desk all day... Most days we discuss lunch workout and how to have the power for the big sprints, I may need a bigger sandwich with a bucket of peppers. My time in town has helped me realize the nutritional sacrifices necessary to grow the power and strength of Daredevil's legs.

GS on the other hand is very conservative. He will eat a a healthy lunch of veggies and fruit but his cruelty is always present. He makes me fetch him Frappuccino from Starbucks. When they are too hot he makes me blow on them. If they are too hot after that he throws them on my crotch. It really is one step above slavery but I'd rather take four Frappuccinos in the crotch everyday than deal with Columbus Airport TSA. At least my daily commute is under 2 hours. Enough about the poor work conditions.

As many of my faithful readers may recall. I decided to take a few weeks off. It has been a long time since I've taken 20 or more days off from running. I didn't disliked it near as much as I expected. I missed running and everything but I really know I had to take a break. If you have ever been injured you know it takes quite a bit to make you realize that you need a break. I've seen GS start a run and call it quits 200 yards into the run. He had to get out there and start running before he called it quits. I've been to MD's house and seen him hopping on one leg telling me that "this is what hurts" before realizing he needed a break. I took just as long to come to the decision. Unfortunately, Nemo would run on bloody stumps, cough up a lung and still not realize he needs a break. I like Nemo and all but he isn't real bright.

My recovery was aided my my very skilled PT. Diligent session of ice and stretching were complimented by a couple session of ultrasound and advice. The road to total full recovery will take a while but I'm working on it. I've taken a few short runs. GS and I snuck in a short one at Sharon Woods before the snow storm on Friday. I got a few 3 milers over the weekend at LT. You know it I'm desparate for a run when I enjoy the treadmill...

Friday 2/5/2010: 3 miles (no timing)
Saturday 2/6/2010: 3 miles (no timing)
Sunday 2/7/2010: 3 miles (no timing)
156 lbs

Those aren't stumps, I just have skinny legs, and what's the sense in having 2 lungs if you're worried about coughing one up. Man up! Glad you're back on those trunks you call legs.
