Everybody says that Los Angeles is supposed to be so beautiful, but I call bullshit. First of all it has looked like this for two days and even worse, this has been my view for two days...that is a really nice airport.

I wish I had binoculars so I could do some star spotting. I've actually only left this hotel long enough to go for a short run yesterday. J-Fo told me to be real careful here in L.A. If I look out the other side of the hotel, this is the scene.
Wicked stuff, I can't wait to get back to the safe streets of Muirfield. Sure Columbus has long, gray, cold, winters and the summers are like sitting in a sauna but at least no one gives me a beat down in the street. Please indulge me a few more minutes to complain about L.A....the other thing that drives me crazy about this place is the people. Whenever I meet someone from L.A., or anywhere in southern California, I always get this snooty vibe. It's the "you'd have to be an idiot not to live in So Cal" attitude. It might also be "Columbus, Ohio...do you have a tractor?". Yeah, jackass we all have tractors and milk cows. Enough of that, I'll get back home Saturday evening.
It has been hotter than "two gerbils wrestling in a wool sock" (best analogy I had). Morning runs have been so nice though. Tuesday morning was a 6 mile run with Nemo and MD. These guys just continue to make me feel slow. I didn't check the pace but I'm pretty sure it was fast. I think MD's new pacing strategy when he runs with me is "speed up until CT is bitching and then speed up a little more until he shuts up". After Steelhead, I need to get my good running legs back or it is going to be a long fall.
Wednesday morning was much easier. Nemo and I took a little run through the woods at Highbanks. We ran casually and chatted. Sure it didn't help my fitness at all but sometimes you just do it for the mental aspects. That brings us to today's fun pictures.
The first picture on the right is Thomas Worthington track just after sunrise. I know it is just another football field at some midwest high school but when you get a good run at sunrise it's always nice to take a second and admire the splendor. Since I'm in a taper, I ran a mile warm up and then 4 x 800. The pace was good. Nemo led the first 3 in 2:50, 2:44, and 2:47. I set the pace on the last one for another 2:44. For some reason, I feel like I run better at the front. Not that I get that many times in my running life but I do occasionally on training runs. Setting tempo gives me a little more confidence than chasing.
Steelhead is next Saturday. If everything goes well, I should be there but there is a chance I'll have to miss. I had a failed software roll out on Friday night that needs to get rescheduled and it might be this Friday. Sometimes I love this job and sometimes I let if get the better of me.
These guys were looking pretty good on the last couple 800s. Nice easy relaxed stride, up on the front of the foot, shoulders back, and chin up.
