It was a great Sunday. I awoke to the sound of my alarm at 6:00 and the glorious smell of coffee. The MRC(am) un-regular group ride was organized by J-Fo. We had a good representation this morning with Nemo, Double-D, J-Fo, and MD (12 minutes late). GS was gonna join but apparently he is very committed to racing Clydesdale next spring.

We rolled out from Dublin for what was planned to be a 25 miler. It was probably closer to 30 with the road outage. I was betting that the "Road Closed" sign didn't apply to cyclist but the lack of a bridge made us obey the detour. The pace was nice and pleasant so we mostly just caught up on what we were all up to and made fun of each other. J-Fo is now getting HUGE. As you can see by his bulging guns in the Garmin Jersey. You will no longer see him lifting the rubber coated pink, orange, and purple weights since he has moved into the realm of pumping iron. The Mexican looking guy next to J-Fo is not a migrant farm worker but really just an unshaven Double-D.

MD and I were sporting the Kenda team kits so I kind of felt like a person that shows up at a party in the same outfits. It was a bit awkward at first but gave us a something to bond over. I think it looks cool when you see cyclist in full team kits but in reality neither MD nor I can really be classified as cyclist. Unless you are actively racing, it is just for show.
Nemo's skinny ass went with a tri-jersey. You can see him if you look real hard but he really blends in with the tall slim corn. Later in the ride, he hid behind a tall blade of grass, jumped out and surprised us as we gently rolled through the quiet roads of Delaware County. That's no lie...
I really like rides like this. Sure they may not bring much fitness but anytime you can ride with some friends on a sunny morning , it is a good ride. As we wrapped up the ride, we were all discussing what the next couple weeks held. MD will be off to India, Double -D is doing a tour of Boston and Chicago, J-Fo will be busting his ass at Abercrombie, I'm off to Buffalo which hasn't had pride since June 13, 1994. and Nemo will be...well Nemo will be ramping up fall sports with his kids. You are never sure when these days will happen again so enjoy them while we can. We (you included) will all crave these rides in February. Unless you are waking up next to a pot of gold, this is a good view in the morning.
I decided to hit Hocking Hills for a trail run afterwards. Partially because I'm running a 60K Ultra Marathon there in September, partially to get some hills for Mount Lemon Marathon but mostly because it gave me a reason not to be at home and paint my bedroom. All are good reasons I believe.
Hocking was real nice. I started at Ash cave and ran 5 miles to the Visitors Center at Old Man's Cave and back. It was a good run. Maybe it was lack of food or the mileage in the last couple days but the last couple miles were rough. I was starving and feeling lethargic. Regardless, I finished and started the drive back home. On the drive I started craving food. I had this pizza coupon on my counter that was calling my name but then I though...WWND. What Would Nemo Do? Nemo would have a large helping of deep breathes, 4 blueberries, a tic-tac and count his stomach groans as he fell asleep. But you know me, I had a large meat lovers with garlic cheese bread and will be going to bed full.

I think I dominate the Clydesdale division in Philly. It's a part of my master plan.
Does J-Fo seriously have two 32 ounce bottles on his bike for a 20 mile ride?
Yes, Josh had two 32 oz bottles for this ride. I think that was the only thing we didn't make fun of. Good catch.
